It’s that time of the year again guys! Damn, this year has flown by real quick hasn’t it? I didn’t even have time to properly analyze all the music that’s been released this year. I’m writing this while on vacation so forgive me if this piece seems a bit rushed. Anyway, I think 2016 was a quite an incredible year for music. Although I feel underwhelmed by some releases, generally the music released was stellar. If you’re expecting to find Drake, Rihanna, Beyonce or Kanye West on this list then you’re on the wrong list. I’m only mentioning the LPs that really stood out to me and that I feel came out at significant points of these artists’ careers.
Hey peeps, swear I got a problem with myself. I’ve been listening to so much music but I can’t find the time or energy to actually sit down and review it for y’all. But I decided to stop slacking and get my shit together for this particular album. Any of you who listen to my Sound Cloud playlists that I curate every so often have probably seen this guy in a bunch of them. I’ve been hooked to his music all year long. In the current age where literally anyone making music whether in a studio or a bedroom can post their songs online, platforms like Sound Cloud are really where it’s at if you want to discover fresh, experimental and interesting sounds.
Hey guys, so as you guys may have noticed I’ve written extensively about #NuNairobi( the artistic revolution currently occurring in my city)- on this blog and on other publications as well. Well a few months ago I was approached with the idea to curate an event based on the #NuNairobi scene as it blows up and continues to manifest itself to the world . I was really skeptical because let’s be honest, I’m a lot of things but I wasn’t an event organizer; but after a period of thought I decided to give it a go! Anything that can help in the growth of the culture and scene seems not only worthwhile but necessary at this point in time.
When Just a Band announced their 2 year hiatus earlier this year, a lot of fans were reasonably devastated. Blinky Bill promised a debut solo album titled ” “Everyone’s Just Winging It & Other Fly Tales” by the end of the year but a day after his birthday on August 26th he surprised us with a free E.P which was uploaded to Soundcloud and Bandcamp.
